Your Public Response Was Disgraceful
By a Bride Who Deserved Better
Instead of addressing my legitimate complaints, The Garden City Hotel chose to publicly insult and gaslight me. Their response was filled with inaccuracies, arrogance, and a blatant attempt to silence and discredit me. They didn’t just mishandle my wedding weekend—they attacked my character when I refused to stay quiet.
What Really Happened
Let me set the record straight:
Check-in Failure: All guests were told check-in was at 4:00 PM. Two of my family's rooms were not ready after 4:15 PM. Because of this, my sister-in-law and nephew missed our family photos and part of the wedding ceremony. That is not just disappointing—it’s unforgivable.
Welcome Bags Ignored: Despite their claim, multiple guests never received the welcome bags I personally prepared. I know this because they told me directly.
“Standing at the Desk by Choice”? I didn’t choose to spend hours at the front desk on my wedding night—I was forced to because the staff was uninformed, disorganized, and dismissive. That statement was not only false, it was deeply patronizing.
Lies and Deflection: I was told that leadership would be informed and prepared the next morning. Yet the manager on duty told me he hadn’t even read his emails. That’s not luxury service—it’s gross incompetence.
The Emotional Toll
The damage this caused went far beyond logistics: I was so emotionally and mentally overwhelmed by your team’s failures that I forgot my bridal bouquet, which carried a pin from my late mother. That’s a loss I will never get back—and your indifference directly contributed to it.
Your Response Was Cruel and Unprofessional
Instead of apologizing or making this right, you accused me of being “malicious” and “irrational.” That is completely unprofessional, incredibly disrespectful, and entirely false. This wasn’t a misunderstanding. It was a clear pattern of mismanagement, lack of empathy, and refusal to accept responsibility.
A Warning to Future Guests
To any bride, family, or guest considering this hotel:
If something goes wrong here, don’t expect help. Don’t expect empathy. Don’t expect accountability.
Expect blame.
Expect gaslighting.
Expect a hotel that hides behind its reputation instead of living up to it.
Additionally, I am not alone in my experience. There are at least 20 other reviews from guests who have stayed at this hotel and shared their frustration, all describing the same treatment from your guest services, front desk staff, and management. It’s clear that the issues I faced are part of a pattern of unprofessionalism and disregard for your guests.
I Will Not Be Silenced
I tried to handle this with grace. I gave your team multiple chances to take accountability. You responded with personal attacks and public deflection. So now I will continue to share the truth—factually, publicly, and unapologetically—so that others know exactly how you treated me on the most important weekend of my life.

Comfortable yet impersonal
Unfortunately we inadvertently left a garment bag behind when we checked out. After having spent a few hours in the vicinity of the hotel, we went to the eastern end of Long Island to another hotel for the night, where we realized that we did not have the garment bag.
After about half an hour and three or four calls - being routed to the front desk, then housekeeping (which was unstaffed at the time), then back to the front desk … was questioned about the color of the bag — as though maybe there were multiple garment bags left in room 519 that morning — to finally learn that yes, they had it.
Drove an hour, only to be handed a garment bag that was scrunched into a clear plastic bag. (Anyone think about why people use garment bags rather than stuffing clothes in a suitcase?)
Why didn’t the hotel just call us after they found the bag? How hard would that have been? We were still in the area & could have retrieved it. I asked the manager … his reply: “yes, we did about 1,000 things wrong related to this situation today.” Reassuring that he acknowledged it. Not sure anything changed after we left.
Disappointing for all the 5-star hype.

I'm truly sorry for the frustration you encountered while retrieving your forgotten garment bag. To clarify for our future guests, our standard practice is to reach out directly when an item is deemed a valuable. For all other items, we securely log them and ask for identifying details—such as color or contents—to ensure they’re returned to the rightful owner. While this process is in place for guest security, I regret that the handling in your case felt impersonal and caused added inconvenience.
We appreciate your honest feedback, and we’re using it to review how we can improve our communication and follow-up. At The Garden City Hotel, we are committed to delivering a seamless and thoughtful guest experience—and we’re sorry we missed the mark during your stay.
We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a visit that reflects the high standards we strive for every day.
