Good hotel to explore Porto with the broad breakfast menu, indoor pool and gym are available and can help you to relax.

Fresh out of comfy beds!
Upon arrival after our flight was delayed the woman at concierge was nice. I requested a complimentary upgrade (why not!?) and they said we had been put in an Executive room. It’s been OK, but not a 5 star. The room is a bit dated and you can tell by the some of the finishes on the floorboards. My biggest complaint is that the beds are not as comfortable as you would expect them to be in even a 4 star hotel. Also, you have to pay for anything additional, poached eggs? Pay, fried eggs? Pay. Maybe this is standard for this HF hotel chain. The rooftop is closed off and this was not disclosed to us upon booking, which is a shame, as this would have helped me when choosing a location to stay in Porto. I get the rooftop pool is not open for the season, but come on, let people see the view and enjoy a coffee up there. The other thing with the room is the safe is hard to use and I asked concierge about it and they said maintenance would need to be called - which they were helpful in offering this but even if maintenance were to fix it I still think I would end up in the same situation. Lastly, the view is okay but I can’t help but notice the dirty window and sill.
Right, so the indoor pool, it is decent size and there is a jacuzzi which is also decent size. Warmed up inside but the actual pool itself is COLD and the jacuzzi feels like warm bath water at best. The jets also turn off every 35 seconds and this is sooo annoying. They do provide towels which is great. But to warn you there looks to be black mold or something in the jacuzzi when walking into it on the stairs. This did not freak me out at all .. joking! It did. That needs to be tended to.
Breakfast, which I chose to pay for during our entire stay is decent. They do offer Prosecco but if you want to add orange juice into it you’ll need to grab another cup and bring it to your table to pour it into yourself. I just think, make things easier for folks but hey I may be the only one who wants a mimosa! I do wish the eggs or even omelets were included as having to pay extra seems a bit lame for a 5 star. Even the waiters are on hand to help clear your plates and help with service which is great but sometimes it felt like they were just watching us eat and I don’t prefer that.
For a quick afternoon snack before the pool we went to the hotel bar. I asked for recommendations on Port and just a light snack- the time it took to get us chips/fries, I could have gone and ordered a whole meal. Sad to say, won’t be stopping by there again.
Transport- not as easily accessible as I would have thought but there are buses. You can pay in cash but better to drop by a metro and grab an andante card.
We have 5 more days here so let’s see how it all ends up. They did mention they might open the rooftop for new years - wonder what will be the deciding factor? I don’t think we will be spending it here but for others that may want to it seems like it would be great if they would.

Hotels without a morning call wake up call
No morning calls / Front Desk Very friendly and unclinical / Large carriers are inconvenient at the hotel entrance / Coffee port safe / No toothbrush / Vinyl hair is dry / Room size is slightly small / WiFi speed is quite affordable / External speed is not very fast / No wifi frequency

The breakfast buffet is ok. Good variety. The location is convenient and located near bus stop. They didn't allow us early check in.

Disappointment
I've been to this hotel (2/3 times) before and loved it, unfortunately, everything seems worse now.
Very weak breakfast, worthy of a 2-star hotel, never seen such!
In the room where I stayed the autopsy did not stop drinking water, which made the night unbearable with the noise...
Some dirt on the bedroom floor, too.
I was very disappointed considering what is paid for a supposed 5-star hotel.
Stay not to repeat.
