Top location

We didn’t want to stay in a ‘chain hotel’
and also live centrally.
That's what the Leidinger offers, plus an underground car park
with about 15 seats at an acceptable price.
Our room faced the courtyard, was spacious and
Quiet, too. The 'Asian facility' was OK, even if
I don't want to live like this.
Reception staff in the evening and also in the morning very
friendly and devoted.
The much praised breakfast is safe from the offer
available, I don't need this in abundance, and am
quickly to be satisfied.
So, a decent house at an acceptable price.

Individual hotel in a good location

Close to the nightlife district St. Johann a family-run house with small gastronomy (great drinks) in the evening and popular breakfast buffet. But as a house guest, you shouldn't get the presumptuous idea of wanting to reserve places for breakfast on weekends in the afternoon for the next morning for friends, not house guests. "I can't," Gast is flattened. The hotel consists of several components. Couple of corners are getting old, but you don't stay in the impersonal chain hotel for that. Even the rooms facing the street are well soundproofed.
Depending on the division of duties, the ladies at the egg counter are actually humorous and prepare wonderfully fresh egg dishes. Good buffet selection, rolls and bread and sensational the fresh orange juice!

Breakfast in Saarbrücken

Once again we went on a short trip to the beautiful Saarland. We spent the night - as always - at the glamping resort in Kleinblittersdorf. Since the resort does not offer a breakfast service, we were looking for a nice breakfast. On May 1, 2024, we chose the Hotel Leidinger, which offers a breakfast buffet for 23 euros per person.
We serve a table...
The reservation went smoothly online and we were excited to see what awaited us there. Of course, reservations can also be made by phone.
Where exactly is it and is it easy to find a parking space there?
The Hotel Leidinger is centrally located in Saarbrücken - if you're lucky, you'll find a parking space right outside the front door. The parking lot gods were obviously very kind to us - because we were able to park right outside the door. I don't think there are any other major problems getting a parking space there - if necessary, you just walk a few meters. Full marks for that.
How will we be received? We use the entrance from Mainzer Strasse - it's a few steps up and you're right in the middle of the action at the Leidinger Hotel (for guests with limited mobility - as far as stairs are concerned - it should be mentioned here: there is barrier-free access around the corner). A very friendly and attentive gentleman greets us, gives us a warm welcome to the Leidinger," quickly looks at the reservation list and leads us to the table. He briefly explains to us where we can find the buffet and what the situation is with the coffee.
The first impression and our table
The table is beautifully set - like all the others there. We are in a kind of winter garden - you look out onto the extremely well-kept inner courtyard - you can also sit wonderfully there. The inner courtyard really invites you to linger, beautifully planted and furnished with very stylish furniture. On the table are cutlery and cups, salt, pepper and the breakfast menu for the egg dishes. A fresh rose completes the decoration. Everything is sparkling clean and very clean.
The breakfast menu
We fill out the mentioned menu without further ado. They didn't forget to put a pen in here either. You can order fresh egg dishes, the table number is already noted - you just have to add your name and tick what you choose. This has the following advantage: the fried eggs, omelettes and scrambled eggs don't get bored to death in some warming container and the guest is always offered something really fresh. You then hand the card over to the "egg station" and the rest happens automatically. I've attached a photo - you can see what's on offer here.
The egg station
On May 1st, this station was manned by 2 extremely courteous and sweet ladies. The mood in this team of 2 was more than good - this also transfers to the guest! We were greeted in a friendly manner and the slip of paper with our order was taken. After a few minutes, the order arrived at our table. Top service and 2 really nice ladies - this station lives through these ladies. I think even if you fall out of bed in the hotel without having had enough sleep and are perhaps in a bad mood, you will forget that very quickly here and your mood will go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds! The fried eggs we ordered arrived with fresh chives and the scrambled eggs we ordered with pretty much all the side dishes were just great. Top quality here too (the eggs come from good farms) and crisp, fresh ingredients.
What do you drink for breakfast?
There is a fully automatic coffee machine that meets all guests' wishes. The coffee is of extremely good quality. It is self-service as far as the coffee goes and that is perfectly fine. There is also a good selection of teas. The actual buffet also has water, water with mint and lemon and orange juice, which is freshly squeezed using a machine.
Bread and baked goods
Yes, where do you start now, the selection is really large. These are not just any baked goods - the rolls are of top quality and well made - as is the bread selection, with or without seeds. The small croissants, on the other hand - with or without chocolate - belong to the baked goods fraction. But there are good ones and bad ones - these are of extremely good quality. This has the advantage that they can be quickly re-baked when the bread basket is empty. Toast - along with a toaster and gluten-free bread - is also available.
Sausage, cheese & co.
A very, very large selection here too - it is impossible to list everything. It should just be mentioned that apart from oysters and caviar, everything is available here. The smoked salmon is very good and is offered to guests with horseradish, the typical Lyoner smiles at you with accompanying mustard, etc. All sausage and cheese varieties are also of top quality and of absolutely good butcher quality. The sausage salad is finely seasoned - as is the egg salad. Various jams and different types of honey are of course also there. Here at the buffet, too, the cleanliness is absolute - nothing sticks - you're used to it from other establishments. Warm porridge, numerous mueslis and breakfast cereals, various types of milk and yoghurts, quark dishes and a fresh fruit salad round off the buffet.
Warm and delicious
In addition to the egg dishes that can be ordered, there are other warm dishes here. Boiled eggs (soft or hard), small sausages and meatballs, French toast, pancakes and crêpes.
Service during breakfast
Someone comes by again and again and asks about the well-being of the guests without it seeming rehearsed or artificial. The plates of egg dishes that have been emptied in the meantime are cleared away almost invisibly, you can tell that this is a well-rehearsed team. And this team enjoys their work and, above all, their guests - unfortunately, you experience this far too rarely these days, especially in the catering industry.
Conclusion of our visit
It's a shame - we live far too far away to be able to enjoy this breakfast experience more often. But one thing is certain: the next time we visit Saarland we will be there again. The excellent buffet and, last but not least, the lovely team at Leidinger will remain in our memories - especially the two ladies at the egg station! Thank you very much for this great experience!

Great location and friendly staff, but old room with cleanliness issues

My first impression was very positive. The hotel is in a great location, with its own hotel garage for arriving by car, the public areas were attractive and the staff were wonderfully friendly. But I was very disappointed with the room. The furniture seemed thrown together and dated with lots of small blemishes and damage. The large areas were cleaned, but the corners seemed to have been cleaned for a long time (I'm attaching photos). Even when I asked, this was not fixed and there is a notice in the rooms saying that housekeeping is only done every other day.
Overall, I think that given the location and the service staff, this could be a good 4* hotel. But as long as they don't have housekeeping under control, I'd prefer any budget chain hotel.

A fabulous boutique-ish hotel near Saarbrucken-central

I had a single bed room, and, though not luxurious, it was totally comfortable for my time in Saarbrucken. That was not the most important aspect of my time there. It was extremely clean AND located very close to the charming city central. Also, the included breakfast was fabulous and frequented by German mostly families. (I am an American who believes that frequency by native countrymen is an indication of superiority.) In addition, very important is the congeniality of the hotel staff, who were. totally helpful and caring. I will stay at this hotel whenever I return to Saarbrucken.
