Superb location, generous welcome.

A superb, relaxing and exotic place full of history. The Louis XIV room in the Tower is superb. We feel very good. The castle is very well heated (heat pumps) and there has been a lot of insulation work. The squire and his son were very welcoming, friendly and generous. They took time for us when we asked. They know the history of the place very well (but not only that). We will not forget it and will come back with great pleasure.

Nothing to do with what we rented

WE with friends, we had to sleep in the castle, in beautiful rooms with spa and and swimming pool but we were accommodated in a cottage next to the castle, damaged, with a terrace that did not stand an old table and broken armchairs. We were told to enjoy the pool anyway but it was green with slugs and scorpions at the bottom of the water.... A scandal for the High Award where we were entitled to a small refund...

Felt like a fairytale

We loved our time at Chateau de Mauras. Despite arriving very late at night, our host was very flexible and attentive of our arrival. He was also very friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed. The castle was renovated but still preserved its authentic Medieval feel. The view from our rooms was beautiful too! We also had a nice breakfast of buttery croissants, homemade jam, coffee and tea right on the castle's terrace where we could enjoy looking out to the countryside. Truly an unforgettable experience and would love to relive it again!

Castle dream in the Ardeche

I had to work one week in Privas. I didn't like the simple hotels so I tried out for the first time a chambre d'hote. It was almost perfect for my wife. For me the place I prefer. A big room on two levels in the castle. Big room with a very hot wooden fire. A lot of space. breakfast, we do not like sugar stuff. The owner made for us a enormous breakfast with 15 kind of cheeses and a lot of meat: fresh roasted beef, several kinds of ham, and a lot of bread, marvelous.
My wife needed a taxi. No problem, the owner brought her to Privas.
The only problem not for me but perhaps for you is that the owner had to stop his restoration of his listed castle, and he has a quarrel with the French administration. I am certain that the owner will be the winner, so please, support him.

Un pur bonheur

Endroit fantastique! Des hôtes alliant générosité, discrétion et bienveillance. Un petit déjeuner défiant toute concurrence! Vraiment une étape indispensable lors d’un séjour dans cette belle Ardèche! A refaire sans aucune hésitation!
